Annual Assessment Meetings

These are held annually to assess performance and to also celebrate successes and anniversaries.

Annual Clean-Up Exercises

First, with the Community Clean-up exercise, it has become an annual activity organized by Galaxy Fun Club with it partners. Usually, letters are written to invite partners and inform members to join the clean-up exercise as well as Galaxy expectations from each partner. Because of the large attendance, a venue is sought for from the beneficiary organization to stock cleaning materials, and refreshment for the team. The events starts with a recognizance walk around the target community or organization. The walk is led by the organization’s head or key opinion leader in the community. Because the activity is free, the beneficiary organization or community may delegate key staff to help familiarize with the area and provide history. Final disposal of the rubbish or waste remains the sole responsibility of the beneficiary community leader or organization. Some of the Partners that have been supporting the clean-up exercises with free T-Shirts are Red Cross Society, and Good Deeds Day.

Some of the organizations that have joined the clean-up exercises include Tema Metropolitan Assembly, Ghana United Nations Association, Good Deeds Day, Live Right Ghana, Tema Real Impact Club, Tema General Hospital, Tema Metropolitan Health Directorate, United Council for Youth Empowerment, and the Tema District Citizens’ Monitoring Committee.

Galaxy Fun Club and the above partners have jointly undertaken the sanitation exercise since 2017. The objectives of the clean-up and free health screening exercise include;

  • To awaken the zeal for volunteerism in the youth
  • To help maintain a clean hospital environment for efficient healthcare services delivery
  • To increase public awareness on their HIV status, and
  • To contribute to the reduction of the prevalence rate of HIV/AIDS in the Tema Metropolis.

Volunteers usually register to participate in the event through online links.
