Youth For Peace Campaign during Ghana 2020 General Election
The Galaxy Youth for peace campaign started on social media after meeting the Australian High Commissioner to Ghana, His Excellency Gregory Andrews.
In 2012, the then Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Afari – Gyan, stated that “Elections are won at the polling stations”. Since then, the country has been recording increase in electoral missteps in the subsequent elections in Ghana.
Upon years of consideration of the effects of electoral related violence, especially with the number of vibrant youth involved, we position ourselves as concerned youth to say that Ghana deserves better and will be much better in development if we consistently record free and fair elections without violence and loss of lives.
The “Say No To Electoral Violence” was a youth-initiative led by Galaxy Fun Club to use the youth to generate a conducive environment for the Ghana 2020 general election in December and after the elections.
T-Shirts were printed for the youth that participated in the campaign. The club also hosted discussions on the elections on Obonu FM for one month before the election.
